In the biography it states he passed away in 1833 in Harlan County, Kentucky. The top area has, Died: after 1834 Lee, Virginia. Which date and state is correct or sourced?
The conflict is because this was merged with another account that was not well researched. The correct info is born 1753 in Lunenberg Co, Virginia and died after 1834 in Lee County, Virginia. It appears the bio was written by a person that doesn't do great research and copies and pastes info and passes that bad info as fact like it has for decades. Like the mother being Judith Burke when His mother is Ann Franklin. They also claim He was born in 1764 with no proof when He was born in1753 to 1754 time frame in Lunenberg County, Va when the his grandfather Edmund Franklin Sr purchased the Franklin plantation that fell into Bedford Co in 1754. Edmund Napier sometimes referred as Edward but only listed as Edward a couple of times in records and We have many records on Him and was married twice. First to Sara Corn whose family lived north of the Hardware River where Edmund and His parents Patrick Napier Sr 1726-1799 and Ann Franklin were living after Edmund Franklin Sr passed away. Patrick had land that was near Champion Napier and lands that bordered John Hammond who married his daughter Joice Sabra Napier in Dec of 1777 in Fluvanna County after that county formed from Albemarle. The Corn family had an association with the Napier family and there was an oral tradition in this family that He had married Sara Corn and they produced at least two sons..Thomas Franklin Napier born Dec 1778 in Fluvanna County, Va and son Hughes Napier born 1780 in Fluvanna County. On the death Record of Thomas Franklin Napier, it lists his parents as Edmund and Sarah Napier. Thomas Franklin Napier died in 1860 in Wayne County, West Virginia. In Feb on 1787 Edmund Napier then a resident of Montgomery County, Va married Rachel Ely after He and all the family including His Parents Patrick Napier and Ann Franklin and John and Joice Napier Hammond left FluvannaCo. They left after July of 1782 and moved in August of 1782 to Montgomery Co. The Family stayed there until Patrick Napier Sr apparently dies after 1799 and Edmund Napier and His oldest son Thomas Franklin Napier left there after the 1801 Montgomery Co tax list. Thomas moved North into Kanawha County, Va, perhaps Edmund tagged along and set Thomas up with His first cabin in Western Virginia or He may have moved on to Lee County, but Edmund Napier does not show up in the tax list until the 1804 Lee County tax list along with His brother Patrick Napier Jr who stayed in Montgomery until after 1802. Rene Napier left after the 1796 tax list. I have studied this family for about 25 years with trips to the Library of Virginia, Albermarle Court house, Fluvanna County, Courthouse, Montgomery County, Courthouse and others. I have found many new discoveries on records never known to have existed before like Edmund Napiers 362 acres of land that was sold to Anderson Bryan in May of 1775 in Albemarle county, Virgina. Unfortunately I cannot do anything about all the bad Napier info out there because most of it is garbage on this family. I guess after a merge I need to double check everything. Thanks for letting me know about the errors.
Edmund Napier was listed between age 70 and 80 yrs old in the 1830 Lee County tax list, He was also listed in the Lee County tax list with 1834 being his last appearance. It appears His son Joseph took on His horse and property after that 1834 listing in 1835. He never lived in Harlan County, Kentucky , but lots of people confuse Him with His nephew Edmund Napier who married Sarah Howard who was living in Harlan County at that time. Edward Napier who married Susan Helton was also living in Harlan county in 1834 and 1835 but He was still likely listed in His fathers household in the tax list and not married to Susan Helton yet. Edmund Napier who was married to Rachel Ely never left Virginia and stayed in Lee County, Virginia
Napier-2612 and Napier-799 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicates. Same dates of birth and death. Same locations of birth and death. Many of the same siblings. Same father. Same spouses.
Napier-892 and Napier-799 appear to represent the same person because: The profiles for these men appear to be duplicates (same parents/wives/dates). However, Edmond Napier and Moses Napier (attached as sons) do not belong to the man represented in these profiles (see comment on Napier-892). I'll postpone the merge in a sec, but could y'all add sources to help id who this an with sons Edmond & Moses is? Thanks!
Edmund Napier was the first son of Patrick Napier Sr and His first Wife Ann Franklin. Judith Burk is not the mother. Ann Franklin was the wife of Patrick Napier up until ca 1764 . Edmund Napier was born ca 1755 not 1764
