SARAH ABBOTT,[1] born at Suncook, 14 July 1751 (calculated) daughter of Job Abbott and Sarah Abbot;[2] Sarah died 9 October 1854 (age at death inscribed as 103 years, 2 months, 25 days on her gravestone);[3] married at Andover, 25 November 1773,[4] her third cousin once removed, ABIEL HOLT, born at Lunenburg, Massachusetts, 14 July 1748 son of Joseph and Mary (Abbott) Holt;[5] Abiel died at Temple, New Hampshire, 7 January 1811.[6]
Sarah Abbott and Abiel Holt resided in Temple, New Hampshire where Abiel was a farmer.
Abiel Holt was a member of the militia company of Capt. Gershom Drury, Col. Daniel Moor’s regiment, Gen. Whipple’s brigade which marched from Temple on 29 September 1777 to Saratoga. Abiel was credited with 28 days of service from 29 September to 26 October 1777.[7] He also served four days on October 1780 when he marched from Temple for the alarm at Coos when Royalston was burned.[8]
In 1790, the household of Abiel Holt was enumerated as eight persons at Temple: one male 16 and over, three males under 16, and four females.[9]
On 8 July 1810, Abiel Holt, Sr. conveyed to his son Abiel Holt, Jr., one undivided half of his farm in Temple on condition that Abiel Jr. make specified payments to his Nathan A. Holt and his sister Amy Holt. On 12 July 1810, Abiel Holt, Sr. yeoman of Temple, in consideration of one thousand dollars, conveyed to his son Abiel Holt, Jr. of Temple one undivided half of the farm on which he lived together with one undivided half of the buildings. The farm was the whole of lot number eleven in the tenth range laid out in Wilton but now annexed to Temple.[10]
On 8 October 1804, Joseph Holt of Temple, in consideration of two hundred and fifty dollars, conveyed to his honored father Abiel Holt any claim or future claim to the estate. On 14 January 1811. Nathan Abbot Holt and Emelia Holt son and daughter of Abiel Holt of Temple, in consideration of two hundred dollars, conveyed to Abiel Holt of Temple their interests in the estate of their honored father Abiel Holt. On the same day, widow Sarah Holt of Temple, in consideration of eight hundred and fifty dollars, conveyed to her son Abiel Holt her interest int the real and personal estate by right of dower, reserving to herself the new house, two cows, one horse, and four sheep. At the same time, Abiel Holt, in consideration of eight hundred and fifty dollars, conveyed to his mother Sarah Holt the rights to undivided third parts of specified tracts of land and buildings during her natural life.[11]
Sarah Holt lived to 103 years old. In her later years, she lived in the household of her grandson Joseph Holt who was the son of son Abiel.[12]
Abiel and Sarah’s son Joseph married but did not have children. In his will dated 25 July 1835 (proved 1 September 1835), Joseph Holt of Temple bequeathed to beloved wife Anna P. Holt six hundred dollars during her natural life which is to revert to heirs after her decease. Anna receives the household furniture brought to the marriage to be at her disposal. Sally Davenport and Jonathan Kimball each received five dollars.[13] Jane Wilson received the sum of six dollars. The remainder of the estate was to be divided between brothers Abiel Holt and Nathan Holt. Brother Abiel Holt was named executor.[14]
Abiel Holt and Sarah Abbott were parents of five children born at Temple, New Hampshire.

iii JOSEPH HOLT, b. 23 Feb 1782; d. at Temple, 19 Aug 1835; m. ANNA P., b. about 1780; Anna d. at Tempe 12 Feb 1872. Joseph and Anna did not have children.
iv EMELIA HOLT, b. 11 Jun 1784; d. at Temple, 26 Sep 1834. Emelia did not marry.
v NATHAN ABBOT HOLT, b. about 1790; d. at Temple, 25 Mar 1839; m. at Temple, 7 Dec 1815, BETSY PARKHURST, b. at Temple, 10 Oct 1788 daughter of William Parkhurst; Betsy d. at Temple, 29 Dec 1875.
