Biography

Moses Abbott was born at Kittery, Maine (then in Massachusetts), the son of Thomas Abbott and Elizabeth (Green) Abbott. In the Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire he is listed third among their children,^[1] so 1668 is a reasonable estimate for his birth date.

No evidence has been found that Moses Abbott ever married. He was living when his father's will was proved, on 23 Apr 1713, but that is the last record found of him. In that will, he received a substantial grant of property at Strawberry Bank (Portsmouth, New Hampshire), and Joseph Anderson speculates that he may have moved there.^[2][3]

Not seeing any evidence that Moses is a son of either Mary Weed or George Abbott (bef.1635-1689) (no record of a Moses born to any Abbott in this region at this time). Leaving links to original parents here and detaching from those profiles pending further research.
