Julia was born May 12th,1843 in Michigan to Asahel and Martha (White) Abbott. Julia married Eugene T. Slayton of Pennsylvania, whose occupation in 1870 census was listed as "drug agent". They lived for a while with Julia's parents and family in Lapeer, Michigan, and they later established their own household and had multiple children.
Julia and Eugene also appear to have frequently taken care of and possibly informally adopted Julia's younger sister Fidelia's "Delia" 2 sons after her death in 1888 her early 30's, and later after their father William Kenworthy's death, as both Jay "Harry" and Lloyd Kenworthy are shown to be living in the Slayton household from at least the 1900 census onward.
Fidelia had also lived with Julia, Eugene and their children for some time in the 1800's before her marriage William Kenworthy and starting a household of their own in St. Ignace, Michigan.
Julia frequently corresponded with her sister Delia before Delia's death in her early 30's of a sudden illness/fever in 1888.
Eugene Slayton became a postmaster in Lapeer for some time in his later years and preceded Julia in death around 1913. Julia died in Port Huron, Michigan at the age of 79 in 1923.
