Biography

Asa Abbot was the son of Timothy Abbott and Mary Foster. He was born 28 October 1721 in Andover, Massachusetts.^[1] On 20 September 1744, Asa married Elizabeth Abbot, daughter of Ephraim Abbot and Sarah Crosby, in Andover.^{[2] [3]}

Asa "was employed in town business; respected for his correct, moral habits, and patriarchal simplicity;"^[1]

Asa and Elizabeth had, at least, six children. In 1791, Asa was struck by an ox horn that put out his eye. Asa passed away six years later from "languishment" due to this injury on 23 December 1797 in Andover.^[4] Asa is buried in South Church Cemetery in Andover.^[5]

Military Service

• Asa Abbot of Andover was a private in Capt. Henry Abbot’s Company which marched on the alarm of 19 April 1775; service one and one half days.^[7]
