She immigrated to the United States as an infant, arriving in Philadelphia on 13 June 1912. She and nine other family members traveled on the Hannover that departed from Breman. The Immigration card says that the name of her closest relative back in Russia was her grandfather Georg Abich of Lesnoi Karamysch, Saratova, Russia, also known as Grimm.
The family's final destination was Flint, Michigan. Fried Christian Stahle was the name of the friend they were joining in Michigan.
The immigration card has the name of Emma Abich, but it uses her sister Amalia's birth date. I believe this was a case of simple confusion of the children and their birthdates. Emma was born in January of 1911, so she would have been about 1 1/2 years old at the time she arrived in Philadelphia. Her sister Amalia was born in 1902 and would have been 11 years old.

For whatever reason, Emma's name is not indexed in the passenger records in both Ancestry and FamilySearch, but her name clearly appears on the passenger manifest. A copy of the manifest is attached to this profile.
When I looked up their address from the 1930 U.S. Census, I discovered that they lived just three blocks from both sets of my great grandparents in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. My mother remembers they had close friends name Abig, and the Volga German community there was close. I'm certain they were all acquainted.
