Sydney enlisted 18 October 1915, and served with the 7th Reserve Battalion Middlesex Regiment until 30 March 1917 when he was posted to the 1st/8th and then to the 4th Battln on 14 April 1917. Private Sydney Thomas Abnett died of wounds in 1917. He served with the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex) Regiment, 4th Bttl, and died with the 48th Field Ambulance on 24 April 1917.[1]
He is buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.[2]
