Jacob Abramovitz was likely born in Poland or Ukrainian Russia in about 1870. At some point, he married Elizabeth or Leah Levenson. Together or separately, they immigrated to England, and by 1890 they had their first of 3 children there. In 1892, they immigrated as a family unit to Philadelphia, PA and had one more child in St Louis, MO. The couple was separated as shown by Elizabeth Abramovitz's apparent marriage to Pincus Thomas(hefsky).
Jacob became a Cantor in the Jewish synagogue where he served in in 8 different congregations. By 1910, the US census shows Jacob remarried to Clara (Mandel), with whom he had 4 additional children. He died in 1917 and is buried in Meriden, Connecticut.
