SSgt Abrams was a 155mm Howitzer Section Chief. He was killed while continuing to lead his gun crew in the face of an enemy ground attack supported by rockets and mortars on LZ BECKY.
During his service in the Vietnam War, Army Staff Sergeant Abrams, Jr experienced a traumatic event which ultimately resulted in loss of life on August 12, 1969. Recorded circumstances attributed to: Died through hostile action, multiple fragmentation wounds. Incident location: LZ (landing zone) Becky 4 km S of Go Dau Ha, South Vietnam, Tay Ninh province. (LZ Becky; 4 k S of Go Dau Ha). He was 28 years old.
Assigned to Vietnam on 18 Nov 1968. Died on 12 August 1969.
