According to "The Genealogical History of Henry Adams of Braintree, Mass., and his Descendants, also John Adams of Cambridge, Mass, 1632-1897" the Joseph Adams who married Margaret Eames was born about 1664 in Menotomy, the son of John and Anne Adams. This is supported by the fact that John's will mentions a son Joseph, who has heirs. The will is dated 1705, and Joseph died in 1701 - John's will doesn't expressly say Joseph is deceased but appears to be willing money directly to Joseph's heirs as though Joseph is no longer around. There is also a deed for John Adams Sr gifting his son Joseph land in 1697: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9Z7-PQ7C?i=283&cc=2106411&cat=196141
