John was born in 1852. He is the son of William Adams and Jane Dunlap. He never married.
He was a farmer and lived in a cabin on the Adams home place in Burlington Twp, Licking Co, Ohio until he retired from farming and moved to Maple Street in Utica.
He attended the Covenanter church in Utica.
