Biography

Calvin was born about 1892, based on his age in the 1940 census.[1]

His marriage record indicates he was born in Wilkes Co., NC to Henry and Mary. That suggests he was the 8-year-old Calvin M. Adams enumerated with siblings and widowed mother Mary in Wilkes Co., in 1900.[2]

In 1915, when he was 23, he married 17-year-old Odessa.[3]

Likely marriage record: Monroe Adams, 21, son of Henry and Mary; m 17 Apr 1914 in Cabarrus, NC, Odessa, 17, daughter of Lawson Carter and Sarah.[4][5]

In 1920, he went by Monroe.[6]

In later census records, he went by C.M. Adams.

He died of chronic emphysema in 1976 in Concord, Cabarrus, North Carolina.[7]

He is buried at West Concord Cemetery.[8]


His mother was Mary Adams, born 1860, probably in NC. See 1900 census.
