Biography
Elizabeth Adams was born about 1708 to Jeremiah and Rebecca (Fletcher) Adams, in Cape May County, New Jersey. On Sunday, 22 May 1729, Elizabeth Adams married Johannes Van Gelder (age 28), son of Abraham Van Gelder and Catalyntie Elias Post, at Cape May County, NJ. It was the groom's second marriage. Together, Elizabeth and John had a total of five children during their years of marriage. She died about 1757,[1] in New Jersey.
Note
Rebecca, the wife of an unknown person , mentioned her daughters Elizabeth, Abigail, Sarah and Esther in her will dated 1 Aug 1750. [2][3]If the marriage of Johannes Van Gelder and Hannah Scull were to be proven, Elizabeth Adams would necessarily have died before 21 Jul 1757. The birth of Naamah Van Gilder in 1768 seems to argue in favor of this due to the advanced age of Elizabeth at the date of this child's birth. More research needs to be done to settle this question. The Banner, Volume III, No. 5 reports that Elizabeth died on 25 Mar 1813. Her Ancestral File Number is 3C24-OL; 1RS1-1PQ
