Biography

Walter Dean Adams February 23rd, 1920 to May 8th, 2002 1st Cousin x3 Removed. United States Army Sergeant he was drafted on October 13th, 1941 at Ft McPherson, GA SN: 34088687. He served in Company A of the 60th Infantry Regiment of the 9th Infantry Division as a Squad Leader (604) and he deployed overseas initially to the African Theater on October 23rd, 1942 arriving on November 8th, 1942. He received the Combat Infantryman’s Badge on May 23rd, 1944 in recognition of his combat service in WWII and over the course of the war he saw heavy action in lots of places serving in Africa, Sicily, and France. While in those countries he participated in the Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, and Northern France Campaigns before being wounded in France on June 29th, 1944. After 2 years 2 months and 7 days overseas he shipped home in December 1944 arriving on December 30th, 1944. He was honorably discharged on April 12th, 1946 at Lawson General Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
