Biography

Joseph Adamson was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Joseph D. Adamson was born on October 3, 1878 in DeKalb, Tennessee, United States, son of John W. Adamson (~1851–1881) and Rachel Jane Adamson (1860–1883).

Joseph married Martha Magnolia Shehane (born on July 15, 1880 in DeKalb; daughter of Isaac Turney Shehane and Nancy Bell (Rhody) Dirting).

In the 1880 census Joseph (age 1) was the son of John Adamson in DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[1] John Adamson 26, wife Rachel Adamson 19, son Joseph D. Adamson 1, son George W. Adamson 0.

In the 1900 census Joseph (age 21) was the married head of household in DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[2] Joseph Adamson 21, wife Nola Adamson 20, daughter Ella Adamson 1.

In the 1910 census Joseph (age 31) was the married head of household in Civil District 3, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[3] Joseph D Adamson 31, wife Maggie N Adamson 29, daughter Ella L Adamson 10, daughter Bessie M Adamson 8, son Bobbie I Adamson 6, son John C Adamson 1.

Joe was in a military record in 1917-1918 in Warren, Tennessee, United States.[4]

In the 1920 census Joe (age 41) was the married head of household in Civil District 13, Warren, Tennessee, United States.[5] Joe Adamson 41, wife Nolie Adamson 38, daughter Ella Adamson 19, daughter Bessie Adamson 17, son Robert Adamson 16, son Clifton Adamson 10, son Valta Adamson 7, daughter Jessie May Adamson 6.

In the 1930 census Joe (age 52) was the married head of household in District 02, DeKalb, Tennessee, United States.[6] Joe D Adamson 52, wife Nola Adamson 49, daughter Jessie M Adamson 16, son Alton Adamson 10, son John M Adamson 8.

Joseph died on March 4, 1950 in Lebanon, Wilson, Tennessee, aged 71. He was buried in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Liberty, Tennessee.[7][8]
