James Agnew was the son of John Agnew and Elizabeth (?)[1]. Burke's Peerage indicates that he lived at Donegore, though whether he was born there is not clear as the relevant volume has not been sighted. His birth year is taken from Ancestry Family Trees but without a source being found.
James Agnew married Elizabeth Adair, daughter of Gilbert Adair (op.cit.), but the date is not given. Two children are named, James Agnew (1754-1843) and Alexander Agnew (1758- ).
James Agnew passed away on 26 February 1758 (op.cit.).
