Biography

Eliza Aikens married Thomas Britton Larzelere in 1812 in Pennsylvania. They had four children: Margaret (Lazelleer) Jones 1813-1891, Reddon "Reding" W. Lazalier 1816-1859, Thomas B. Lazalier 1820-1858, and lastly a daughter named Eliza Larzelere born in 1822- unknown death date.

Eliza filed divorce from Britton for refusal to support her and their children and on grounds of adultery. Britton remarried to Clarissa Hyatt, a widow with three children: a son (unknown name) b.1814, a daughter Mary Ann b.1817, and a daughter Sarah Jane b.1819. Eliza also remarried, to a man named William Worrell in 1824, and they had a daughter named Maria (Worrell) Robinson together.

Eliza remained in Lancaster, Wells County, Indiana (1840-1852) with her unmarried daughter, Eliza, as her youngest daughter, Maria, was married and living in Michigan.

In around 1852, Eliza moved to Washington Township, Wapello County, Iowa to help raise her grandchildren after the tragic death of their father (her son). She remained there as noted in the 1856 Iowa census listing her (occupation: Milliner), her daughter Eliza, aged 29, and her granddaughter also named Eliza J. Lazallere, aged 8 years old.

Eliza Aikens Larzelere Worrell cannot be found after 1856.[1]
