John Calvin Albertson was born on 30 Sep 1791 at North Carolina, the son of Early Albertson and Elizabeth Coulson. [1][2]
He removed with his parents and siblings from North Carolina to Tennessee prior to 1820, when John first appears on record at Overton County. [3] He later appears in the 1830 and 1840 census records at Fentress County, [4][5] which was formed from parts of Morgan, Overton, and White Counties in 1823. [6]
John married by about 1817 Ruth Dillon, [7] and they had children: [8][9]

John was appointed on 10 Dec 1833 to the position of Postmaster of Jamestown in Fentress County. [11]
One historian says John and Ruth's first child was unnamed and died at birth on 16 Nov 1818. [12] This tracks with Hull-Albertson family tradition that says John had 10 children. [13]
