Polycarp Allcock was the son of William Alcock, needle-maker of Redditch, Worcestershire and his wife Elizabeth. He was born on 20th January 1776, and baptised the following day at the Roman Catholic chapel of SS Peter & Paul & St Elizabeth, Coughton, Worcestershire (approximately 6 miles south-easth of Reddich). His godparents were William and Blondall of Coughton and the witness is Jno Simpson OSB Con Ang.nee (presumably Order of Saint Benedict). His mother Elizabeth is noted as a convert to Catholicism [1].
Polycarp married Susannah Mogg on 29th March 1796 at the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Studely, Warwickshire (between Reddich and Coughton [2].
Their son, William, was baptised on 23rd September 1798 at the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Studely [3].
Susannah died and was buried at the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Studely on 13 December 1807 [4].
Polycarp died aged 96 in the Bromsgrove Registration District in the June quarter of 1871 [5].
The name of church given to the register by Find My Past may be incorrect, as https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1355381 notes this church was built in the 1850s.
Polycarp may have had a second marriage to Elizabeth Thornton at Saint Bartholomew, Tardebigg, Worcester, England c 15 miles ne of Studeley [6].
Polycarp (of Harborne) may have had a second/third marriage, as a widower, to Ann Mole, widow of Halesowen in St Peter's Church, Halesowen (c. 20 miles to the north-east of Studely, 3 miles ne of Tardebigge [7].
A Polycarpe (born c. 1790) appears on the 1841 census in Easemore Lane, Tardebigg, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England(with a possible wife Ann aged 50=54) born in Tardebigge aged 65 (ie born c 1776-1780) [8].
