Biography

They say every family has a wild boy. Bob was the wild boy of the Alcorn family. He married young, at 19 yrs old to a local girl, Jean from Mackay and during the course of a fairly stormy relationship they had two girls. Bob and the outback were synomous with each other. He worked on properties, for outback councils and in his latter years before he died, he worked at the coal terminal at Slade Point. He had differences with the law, but they were minor issues, but he did end up in jail for 6 weeks over the non payment of traffic fines. This did his future work prospects the world of good, because while he was in there he was taught how to use laser beams in conjunction with a road grader. His services were then always in demand, grading roads in the outback which could be a very lonely existence. On another occasion he ended up working on Hamilton Island, which is an upmarket holiday resort just out from Airlie Beach in central Queensland. So his life could, in one minute be a famine and next it was a feast. Bob passed away, in quite a bit of agony, through liver failure, brought on by the excesses in alcohol consumption.

He died at Sarina Hospital, Sarina, Queensland, Australia.
