Biography

Daniel Aldis, the son of John & Sarah Aldis, was born in Dedham, (then) Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, on "3:6 m, 1661," or 3 August 1661.^[1] He died at Dedham Jan. 21, 1717/8.^[2] He married there Nov. 23,1685, Sarah Payne, dau. of Stephen and Anne (Chickering) Payne, born at Rehoboth, Oct. 12, 1666, died at Dedham Dec 16, 1733. Daniel Aldis was "deacon" as were his father and grandfather, --the date of election is unobtainable. He was elected constable 1695. --In his will dated Jan. 19, 1718, he gives to "my beloved wife *Sarah Aldis" *son-in-law William Bacon *my daughter Anna, wife of Jonathan Onion of the Clapboard Tree Lands in Dedham, husbandman. -----I.
