Biography

William Alexander was named as the father of Alexander Alexander in his 1849 birth and baptism records.

In 1841 William is recorded on the census as living in "Crumyquoy" (Cromyquoy) in the parish of Watten, Caithness, with his wife and children Donald, John and William. William Senior's trade was farmer. Also recorded on the census form as living with the family were two farm servants, Catherine Bain and Janet Manson.[1]

William was living with his wife and children and three farm servants on his 60 acre farm in Watten, at a location known as Cromiequoy, in 1851. The servants were William Ham, a labourer, Mary Bruce, a house servant, and Catherine Burney, a 12 year old shepherd.
