William was serving with His Majesty's Seventieth Regiment of Foot in Gibraltar at the time Agnes was born in August 1835. By 1838 he must have been transferred to Malta for Annie to be born there.

I have added the new children of this marriage because William Allan and Elizabeth are listed in the birth records as being a Lighterman living in the Queen's Place when their son Campbell was born in 1832. That also means probably Emma, Lydia & Ida at least were born in London. There were only five Regiments in Gibraltar in the time frame of our Agnes Allan.
Having just located Agnes Allan's birth record in Gibraltar for August 1, 1835, William is listed as a Lance Corporal serving with the 70th Regiment.
1851 Census shows this William & Elizabeth back in Forfarshire, Dunneden, Scotland. Only the girls stayed in Canada.
