Biography

John was born about 1788 in North Carolina. He was the son of John Allbright and served in the Georgia Militia during the War of 1812.

He was an Ensign in 207 Dist. Co., Franklin Co., Ga. Commissioned 27 August, 1810 Captain and resigned in 1812. In May 1818, Christian was a Captain in 262 Dist. Company, Franklin County, Ga. (McCain “Ancestry of Albright and Holt Families of Clay County Missouri”, pp 209).

John Christian and his family moved from Georgia to southeastern Missouri where they settled near the White River close to Patton Missouri (McCain, pp 209).

He passed away about 1850 in Missouri.

Research Notes

Move to Missouri

There is some disagreement among researchers as to the date that John Christian, his family and his father moved to Missouri. Shannon Dowdy Albright tells us that at least one son (John Christian) accompanied John Allbright to Missouri in 1813. However, John Christian’s son Benjamin was born in Madison County, Georgia in 1817 and John Christian appears to have been a Captain in the Georgia Militia until 1818. The 1818 date may be a transposition error by McCain as she also tells us John Christian resigned in 1812.

There is a Christian Albright that appears in the 1830 Census for Missouri three lines below Benjamin Albright. The Census contains the following information on these two entries:
