Biography
Etta May (Ella Mae) was born in Monroe County. Kentucky on 11 Sep1880. She passed away on 17 May1964 in Decatur, Illinois and was buried in the North Fork Cemetery, Long Creek, Illinois.[1]
1900 Census: Ella is 19 years old and has been married to Timothy Roberts (23) for 5 years. The couple are residing in Thompkinsville, Kentucky with their two sons Clarence (2) and Marvin (1). The record list Ella's birthplace as Kentucky and her birthdate as Sep 1880. .[2]
1910 Census: Ella (26) and Timothy (33) are living in Macon County, Tennessee. The record indicates that Ella and Timothy have been married for 13 years and that Timothy is farming rented property. The couple have 7 children: Clarence (M/12), Marvin A. (M/10), Hetty (F/8), Letty (F/6), Lura ((F/4), Guy (M/2), and Vergie (F/3 months).[3]
15 Apr 1918: Daughter Virgie dies at home in Macon County, Tennessee at the age of 8 years.[4]
1920 Census: Ella and Timothy are living in a rented house in the Bethany Precinct area of Macon County, Tennessee. Their daughter Virgie has died and their son Clarence is not listed in the home but the couple now have 9 children in their home: Marvin (19), Hettie J. (18), Nettie (15), Lura (14), Garland (11), Norman (8), Elmer (5), Virgie C. (4), and Mirine L. (1).[5]
