Daughter of Elijah Jefferson Allen (1833-1868) and Nancy Ann Hedgespeth (1833-1902) From FAG: She married William Eddard Pepper on 6 Oct 1887 in Green County, Kentucky. Marriages of Green Co. Rosa Green Pepper, 75 Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Green Pepper, 75 years of age, were held Friday, May 8 from the Sand Lick Church. Services were in charge of the Revs. Blair and Bloyd and burial was in the family cemetery. Mrs. Pepper died at her home in the Bengal section Wednesday, May 6th. Mrs. Pepper was the daughter of Elijah Jefferson Allen and Nancy Hedgespeth Allen. She was married to William E. Pepper in 1887 who preceded her in death 22 years ago. Surviving are eight children: A.G. Pepper, Summersville; Mrs. Alex Gardner, Campbellsville; Rev. F.T. Pepper, Summersville; Charlie Lee Pepper, Toulon, Illinois; Anna Pepper, Bengal; R.D. Pepper, Bengal; Mrs. Issac Berry, Greensburg; Mrs. Walter Money, Bengal. She also leaves thirty-five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and numerous other friends and relatives. She professed faith in Christ at 13 years of age and joined the Hodges Chapel Methodist Church and was a devoted member until her death.** Pallbearers were: Clarence Henderson, Shreve Pepper, Ivan Pepper, Leonard Pepper, Paul Pepper and Bruner Money. Flower girls were Annie Money, Lennie Gardner, Rosa Pepper, Iona Pepper, Leona Pepper and Ruth Pepper.

    • According to family members, the obituary was incorrect regarding her church membership. At the influence of her father-in-law, Reverend G. L. Pepper, who was a Separate Baptist Minister, Rosa Pepper later joined the Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church and was a member there until her death.

Rosa Eddard Pepper Berry, 81, daughter of the late William Pepper and Rosa Allen Pepper, was born February 24, 1905, in Green County, and died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 1986 at the T. J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow. She was a member of the Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church at the time of her death. She united in marriage to Isaac Berry on December 15, 1920, who preceded her in death February 7, 1967. To this union three sons and two daughters were born: Vernon Berry, Campbellsville; Raymond E. Berry, Burkesville; Mrs. Avis Christie, Greensburg; and Norma Jean Swafford, Campbellsville. Walter Berry preceded his mother in death December 21, 1943. Mrs. Berry is survived by one brother, the Rev. F. T. Pepper, Greensburg. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where Eastern Star services, presented by the Greensburg Chapter #232, were conducted at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 10. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, with burial in the Greensburg Cemetery. The Rev. Roger Pepper officiated. Pallbearers were Ray Engle Berry, Daryl Berry, Rodney Berry, Jim Christie, Walter Swafford and Mike Mitchell.
