He married Mary Ann Couzens in Havant on 25 December 1839. [3]. The register showed John was a harness maker, living in West Street, Havant, and his father was John Allen, a coachman. Mary Ann was also living in West Street, Havant, her father was John Couzens, a parish clerk. The witnesses to the marriage were Sarah and John Couzens [4]
John died in Havant in 1875, aged about 60 [5]. He was buried in Havant, St Faiths on 29 June 1875 [6]
