Biography

John was born in 1862 in Holsworthy Devon, England. ^[1] His mother was Elizabeth Allin, a daughter of James Allin and Alice Fanton.

In the 1871 census John, age 8 is living with Alice Allin and is recorded as her son although she would be his grandmother. It is likely he was raised by her. ^[2]

By 1881 John, age 18 was working as a tailor and living in Plymouth. He was living in lodgings. ^[3]

In 1885 John married Emma Jane Hughes in Windsor, Berkshire. ^[4]

In the 1891 census John (age 28) was the head of household in London, Islington, London, England.^[5]

John and Emma had eight known children.
