Biography

Geraldine (Allison) Rogers is a part of US Black heritage.

Geraldine was born in Hillsboro, NC on December 23, 1908, to Rev William Wesley Allison and Della Turentine.^[1]

In 1910, 6-year-old Geraldine was one of six children in the home of William and Della Allison. The family was living on Cameron Street in Durham, North Carolina where her father was a minister.^[2]

After her father's death, Geraldine, her mother, Della, and siblings Bessie and Frank would move to Greensoboro City. In 1920 they were living with Geraldine's married sister, Martha, and her husband Anthony Smith, on Dudley Street. Anthony was a barber and Della worked as a cook at a college.^[3]

Geraldine F Allison married Edwin A Rogers on December 23, 1933 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.^[4]

In 1940, both Geraldine and Edwin were teachers in Norfolk. They were living on Cumberland Street in that city.^[5]

Geraldine Allison Rogers died on November 21, 1962 in Norfolk Community Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. A teacher at the Norfolk campus of Virginia State College, she was married to Edwin A Rogers, who was the informant.^[1] She was buried at Calvary Cemetery.^[6]
