Alexander Alter was born 7 Apr 1836 in Ligonier, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. He died 18 Aug 1914 at the home of Harriet, Carson, Texas.

In my family genealogy handed down to me from my grandparents I have the following regarding the Alter family. My Great Grandmother is Lucinda Jane Alter (1838-1930). My mother, Marguerite Lucinda Hedrick (1925-2022), personally knew her. Lucinda was married to William Alexander Hedrick (1814-1890). Her parents were David Alter (1794-1870) and Sarah Countryman (1800-1850). I have David's parents as George Heinrich Alter, Jr. (1750-1800) and Margaretha Gramatky (1755-?). Sarah Countryman's parents are George Countryman Jr. (1765-1801) and Barbara Countryman (no dates and no birth sir name).

Some of the above dates are listed as circa. so they are not definite. I would love to correspond on either Alter or Countryman that you may have information.

Palmer-20483 Linda (Palmer) Farbry
Alexander was NOT the son of Elizabeth Mell Alter and David Alter. He was born in 1836. Elizabeth Mell would have been 57 years of age, and died in 1837. David, would have been 61 years of age, and died in 1838. It is possible that he is the son of one of their sons.
