August was born in 1871, the son of Johann Altmann and Minna Gaertner. [1]
In 1908, in Victoria, he married Dinah Rebecca Rhodes (1886-abt.1995). [2]
They had 8 children.
Gus passed away in Geelong West 1934, aged 63 [63y 1m 20d]. [3]
He was buried in Geelong Eastern Cemetery. [4]
