Minnie Amos was probably born as well as raised at Creeksea Ferry on Wallasea Island in Essex. No baptismal record has yet been found for her, but both her sister Flora and her brother Frank, between whom she was born, were baptized at St. Nicholas in Canewdon, the parish in which the Creeksea Ferry was located.[1][2]
She appeared with her parents at the Ferry Boat cottage on Cricksea Ferry Rd in the 1891 census. She was recorded as seven years old, born in Canewdon, and her occupation was "Scholar."[3]
