William was born on 31 March 1891 in Felsted, the son of Richard and Emily Amos^[1].

In the 1911 census, William (age 20), Railway Porter, was the single son of Richard Amos in Rose Cottage, Rayne Nr Braintree, Rayne, Essex, England.^[2]

William's marriage to Mabel H Back was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1917 in the Chelmsford district.^[3]

In the 1939 register, William (age 48), Railway Signalman, was the married head of household on Lorne Nags Head Lane, Brentwood, Essex, England.^[4]

William's death (age 61) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1952 in the Brentwood district.^[5]
