Mary Ann was born in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinolis on 4 August 1862. She passed away in Shenandoah, Page County, Iowa on 5 June 1939. On 23 August 1880 she married Arthur Charles VanKirk, son of Arthur "John" VanKirk and Elonvia "Ellen" Stipe.
Mary Ann and Arthur had ten children; Mary Elizabeth "Polly," William C, Ella, Alta Mamie, Franklin A, Pearl Edna, Bertha "Cecil," Walther Lawrence and Ruth Irene.
On 13 December 1902, Mary Ann married her second husband, Benjamin Franklin Taylor, son of Eliah Taylor and Elizabeth Hammond.
Frank and Mary Ann had one child together, Lena Rosetta Taylor.
Mary Ann married 3rd, Chancey Ithamer Pickett. They did not have children together.
