Biography

Mary (Anders) Ritchie is a part of US Black heritage.

Mary (Anders)^[1] Ritchie was born ca 1840^[2] - 1842^[3] in South Carolina.

She married Dock Ritchie before 1870.

She passed away after 1900, possibly in Dillsboro, Jackson Co., NC, where she and Dock lived in that census year.^[4]

Research Notes

Mary's race was given as "mulatto."

The alternate/additional surname of "Gibson" is given for Mary on her FamilySearch profile.

There she's linked to the John and Hester Anders family of Beaufort Dist., SC, free persons "of color" whose races were listed as "mulatto."^[5] Additional documentation is needed.
