Edward was born on 21 June 1838 in Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of James Anderson and Betsey (Whitney) Anderson (1806-1881).^[1][2]

In the 1850 census Edward (age 12) was in Sutton, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.^[3]

Edward served in the Civil War. He enlisted on 12 July 1861 in Worcester, Massachusetts, as a private in the 15th Regiment. He was discharged for disability on 25 November 1862.^[4][5]

Edward married Abbie L. Waters on 24 November 1868 in Cumberland, Providence, Rhode Island, United States.^[7]

In the 1880 census Edward (age 41) was the married head of household in Millbury, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. He and Abbie were running a boarding house, and had 17 guests.^[8]

Edward died at the age of 74 on 6 May 1913 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.^[9][2][10]

Edward was buried in May 1913 in Newton Cemetery, Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.^[10][11]
