Biography

NOTE: It appears there were two Rebecca Anderson's with the same birthdate that married a Wells in the world. They both had a child named Alice Wells that was born in the same year at "our" Alice Wells. And the mother of both Rebecca's first name was Mary. Small world. So, this is not the Rebecca Wells of Yorkshire who married Charles P. Wells. This Rebecca Wells is the Botsford Rebecca who married Stephen Trenholm Wells. [1] .

Rebecca was born on 28 July 1850 in Botsford, Westmoreland County, New Brunswick. [2].

She passed away after 1927 at the age of 77. She is buried in the Sackville Rural Cemetery in Sackville, New Brunswick [3] [4]

In the 1851 Census, the following people were listed in the household [5]:

According to the 1901 Census, they were living in Sackville, NB, religion Presbyterian, and the following people lived in the household [10]:
Trenholm Wills Age54 (mechanic) (Methodist)
Rebecca Wills Age50 (Presbyterian)
Foster/Kenester Wills Age29 (farmer) (Methodist)
Daisy Wills Age15 (Methodist)

It appears there was a disruption in the family in the next ten years. Perhaps Trenholm Wells died. According to the 1911 Census, the family moved to Souris, Manitoba, religion Methodist, and the following people lived in the household (all reported to be born in N.B.) [11]:
Foster W Wells 40 (head) (farmer)
Caster R Wells 30 (brother of Head)(farmer)
Rebecca Wells 61 (mother of Foster)
Daisy Wells 26 (sister of Head)
Myrtle Wells 3 (niece of Head) (daughter of Daisy, see note below) Note the interesting makeup of the family at this time. Two brothers working with their mother and sister and then their niece.

Then, according to the 1921 Census, they are back in Sackville (in the Anderson Settlement), religion Methodist, and the following people lived in the household [12]:
Foster Wells 49 (farmer)
Rebeckah Wells 70 (birthplace of mother and father: Scotland)
Myrtle Whiffers/Whiffen 13 (adopted daughter) (birthplace of mother and father: England)

To Add to Parent File

Daisy Whiffen (DOB: July 28, 1885) died in Saint John, NB on Jan 19, 1929 at 1045 a.m. in the hospital, as a result of cervix cancer. Her parents are listed as Trenholm Wells and Rebecca Anderson. It appears she returned home for three days to be with her parents before going to the hospital as the Death Certificate states the length of time at the residence being 3 days. States that Albert Whitten being the name of the deceased husband of Daisy. States daisy worked as a house worker. [13]

The Other Rebecca

Again, not Rebecca of Botsford. Keeping this info on this profile to avoid others adding different parents, etc. Rebecca's father is Edward Anderson and her mother is listed as Mary Anderson. At the time of the 1851 Census, the following people lived in the household[14]:
Edward Anderson 41
Mary Anderson 38
William Anderson 12
Mary Ann Anderson 8
Robert Anderson 4
Rebecca Anderson 1 Born in Bridlington Quay, Yorkshire, England

After 30 years of absence from Census records, Rebecca re-appears.

An 1881 Census however adds an interesting ingredient. The following people are said to be living in the house [15]
Charles P. Wells 41 (Head)
Rebecca Wells 31 (wife)
Alice Wells 4
Florry Wells 3
Pheobe Wells
Mary Harding 64 (mother-in-law)
Robert Harding 40 (brother-in-law)
