Axsel Andersson was born on October 12, 1821 in Mo parish in Bohuslän, Sweden.
He passed away on July 15, 1893 in Ellison Bay in Door County, Wisconsin and is buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ellison Bay, Door County, Wisconsin. The inscription on his headstone says: "Här hvilar vår käre Fader Axsel Andersson FÖDD i mo socken Bohuslän.Sverge.12 Oct 1821; DÖD 15 Juli 1893.[1]
There is only one Axel born in Mo parish, Bohus län in 1821. It is Axel Andersson, born October 15, 1821, the son of farmer/bonde Anders Jacobsson and his wife Helena Hansdotter in Björnåsen.[2]
According to later Swedish household records, he and his sons are noted as "lösdrivare", vagrants. Axel is noted to be living in Amerika and one of his sons in Norway. This is likely the same family, even if the birth date on the tomb stone is off by three days. It was not unusual that a day, month or year is off in records or head stones for loved ones. Records may be lost, and next of kin mix things up.
It would help if his sons from the Swedish records were found to have lived in Door, Wisconsin: "Here rests our dear Father Axsel Andersson born in Mo parish, Bohuslän, Sweden.
