The English origins of Jane Angel have recently been identified as in the parish of St. Ives, Huntingdonshire, England.[1][2] The primary clue was an entry in John Winthrop's journal which read regarding Jane, "It is certainly known that Hawkin's wife, who continued to live with Mrs. Hutchinson and was her bosom friend, had much familiarity with the devil in England where she dwelt at St. Ives." A search of the parish records of St. Ives and nearby Bluntisham-cum-Earith revealed the marriage of Richard Hawkins and Jane Angel as well as the batptisms of nine of their children.
Follower of Anne Hutchinson and the Antinomian Quakers. Midwife. Banished after being accused of witchcraft. Closest friend of Anne Hutchinson, Jane was a midwife and herbalist given to trance-like states in which she spoke Latin...was banished from the Salem Church to join Mrs Hutchinson in exile. [3]

↑ Richard and Jane Hawkins had a son-in-law named Thomas Brooks. Since all of the other daughters are known to have died, it must have been Mary who married Thomas Brooks.
