Biography

Sergeant Garrett Applegate served with 8th Pennsylvania Regiment, Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Garret Applegate was born on 2 November 1758 in Berkeley County, Virginia.^[1] At the time he was born it would have been Frederick County.

He died intestate in Harrison County, Indiana. In October 1837 the heirs of Garret Applegate who stated that he died 28 August 1837 and left no widow and his only heirs were his children Ann Heth, Hannah Applegate, Derrick Applegate, Elizabeth Pangborn, Rebecca Pangborn, Naoma Crookham, James Applegate, Cassandra Amy and Mary Current.^[2]

James was a son of Garret Wall and Mary (Johnson) Applegate;

Garret Applegate came from New Jersey, and was the first settler in Forward township.
