On 16 Jun 1839, James Appleton married Elizabeth Jane Smith in Hendricks, Indiana, USA. [2] [3]

At the time of the 1840 US Census, head of household James Appleton was living in Hendricks, Indiana, USA in a household in which there was one free white male between the age of 15 and 20, one free white male between the age of 20 and 30, and one free white female between the age of 15 and 20.
