He was a retired welder and owner of Ardis Machine Shop. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanford Ardis; a sister, Patricia Hines; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Erick Sinner, Robert Ashwood Ardis III and John Henry Timmons III.
