Larry was born in 1900. He passed away in 1950.
He was the father of Mary Lois Ardis; Larry Leroy Ardis Jr; a baby son who died along with his mother just after birth; Barbara Virginia Ardis Coker of Sumter; and Laura Ruth Ardis Rollinson of Camden.
Mr. Ardis was the owner and manager of Ardis Machine Shop, formerly on S. Main Street in Sumter, SC. A designer, engineer and builder of equipment; and, a beloved father.
He was a member of Pinewood Methodist Church from his childhood.
His favorite place to be? Santee, with his family... And, he always wore a tie even as he fished.
As was typical of this work-dedicated son, husband, and father, he suffered a massive stroke while standing on top of a piece of equipment he was creating. Although efforts were made to save his life, and he was taken to Tuomey Hospital and treated by Dr. White and Dr. Andrews, he died the next day.
