ARIES — GlLLlS.—On December 23rd at the residence of the bride's mother, Ryan Street, Moonta, by special licence, by the Rev T E keen, Joseph, the eldest son of Mr. Thomas Aries, of Oxfordshire, England, to Eliza Jane, eldest daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Gillis. Adelaide. [2]

OBITUARY.
The death of an old resident of Wallaroo Mines, in the person of Mr Joseph Aries, took place at the Adelaide hospital on the 19th inst. ; Deceased, who was 83 years of age, was born at Staffordshire, England, and had been a colonist of 54 years. He resided for a few years at Baruhga Gap, and then came on to Moonta, where he served as a roper with the Wallaroo and Moonta . Co., for about 40 years.
Some 25 years ago he underwent an operation for cancer in the tongue, and this re-asserted itself and brought about his demise. His wife (nee ,E: J. Gillis) predeceased him by four years. There are left a family of three sons and three daughters, viz. Perc. (Payneham), Bert (Kadina), and Stan (Ardrossan) Mesdames Harold Verran (Dulwich), W.K. Cooper (Seacliff), and C Bartlett: (Mirilaton). One sister also survives, viz., Mrs Brown of Surrey, England. The remains were brought to Kadina on Wednesday afternoon and interred in the local cemetery, the Rev. F.W. Brasher conducting the service. [5].

He is interred (with wife, Eliza J & children Alfred Thomas, Elsie Ada, Bert & Ida) at Kadina Cemetery, South Australia[6]. Aged 75 (est. DOB 1856)
