Biography

Maria was born about 1808. She was the daughter of Francis Arkinstall and Elizabeth Groom.

Her mother died in January 1818.

In the England Census of 1841 she was recorded living with her father in High Street, Drayton, Magna, Shropshire, England, aged 25, Single. Her father was a Watch and Clockmaker.

Occupation: Servant

Her father died in 1849. Maria was a beneficiary of his will.

England and Wales Census, 1851: Recorded in the household of her sisters Ellen and Jane (who were both Governesses) in Shropshire Street, Drayton In Hales, Shropshire, England. Aged 41 and single. Also in the household were two visitors and seven pupils.

Occupation: Annuitant

At the age of about 47 she married James Hutchinson (son of John Hutchinson) on 1 May 1855 at Preston-On-The-Weald Moors, Shropshire, England. ^[2]

MARRIAGES

On the 1st ult., at Preston, by the Rev. T. O'Regan, James, youngest son of the late Mr. John Hutchinson, of Newport, to Maria, eldest daughter of the late Mr. Francis Arkinstall, of Market Drayton.^[3]

They had no children.

Maria passed away six years later in 1861 at the age of 53.
