John Armitage was born in Lancashire, England.

John was born in 1892. He was the son of Joshua Armitage and Alice Hughes [1] and was baptised at St Cuthbert's Church, Everton, on 19th June 1892, at which time the family was living at 12 Jeffery Street [2].

At the time of the 1901 Census, he was living with his family at 186 Beacon Lane [3].

In 1911, age 18, he was living with his family at 160 Beacon Lane and was a grocer's assistant [4].

He married Margaret Hughes at St Cuthbert's Church, Everton, on 21st April 1918, at which time they were living at 160 Beacon Lane and John's occupation was crane attendant [5] [6]. John's sister Alice and Robert Roberts were witnesses.

In 1939: [7]

John passed away in 1946 [8] and was buried at Kirkdale Cemetery on 4th February [9].
