Biography

Arie (Armstrong) Bankhead is a part of US Black heritage.

Arie married Garnet Bankhead in July, 1914. They had at least seven children. According to the 1930 US Census, Garnet was a coal miner and Arie was a homemaker.

Arie was the mother of Dan Bankhead, the first Afro-American pitcher in Major League Baseball.
