James and Rosina would have three children prior to James enlisting in the 64th Virginia Infantry Regiment on 13 Aug 1862. He was captured at Cumberland Gap, Virginia on 9 September 1863 and sent to Camp Douglas where he died in 1864 from Scurvy. James is buried in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.[3][4]
