Research Notes
Mother: According to the 1880 census, Emma was born in 1865 and was the daughter of James Asbury. Emma's death record lists her mother as "Martha Asbury." However, James and Martha did not marry until 1878. It is unclear if James was married previously (and Martha was actually Emma's step-mother) or if James and Martha were cohabitating before marrying in 1878. The household has not been located prior to the 1880 census.
Possible Husband: Emma's death record lists her as Emma Jackson. There is a marriage record for an Emma Asbury and Richard Jackson marrying in Montgomery County, Ohio on 3 July 1888 by Elder J.E. Artis.[4] It is unclear if this is the same Emma.
