Biography

Mary was born in 1829 and baptised 27 Sep 1829 in Blackrod, the daughter of William Atherton and Elizabeth Greenhalgh. [1] She died in 1873 age 43. [2]

Mary married Samuel Haslam in Wigan in 1849. [3] Samuel and Mary had at Least 9 children, only one of whom, Daniel Haslam, survived into adulthood.

Census Records

  • 1841 in Wigan age 10 with parents.[4]
  • 1851 in Hindley age 21, with husband. [5]
  • 1861 in Hindley age 29 with husband and young sister, Elizabeth. [6]
  • 1871 in Hindley age 41 with husband and son. [7]

Research Notes

For some reason Samuel Haslam is on Wikitree married to Mary Price on the same date as Mary Atherton (possibly from a mis-interpretation of the 1871 census entry which gives Ellen Price as mother of Samuel Haslam).

Price-3085 and Atherton-1273 appear to represent the same person because: Same bmd dates - same spouse. Mary Price never existed, explained in Research Notes for Atherton-1273.
